The Junior League of Asheville researched opportunities that would allow us to improve our community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers, while also developing the potential of our members and promoting voluntarism. We chose to focus on poly-substance abuse and the impact is has on the foster care system in Buncombe County. We are working in four key areas to make a difference—coalition building, direct service, grant making, and advocacy.
Through the efforts of our organization we hope to have a measurable impact on the number of children in foster care as a result of substance abuse and help pregnant women dealing with substance abuse to heal in a safe environment with a steady support system. If you have any questions or suggestions about our area of impact please contact our VP of Community, Lauren Karlsson, firstname.lastname@example.org
